This is the first compilation
of JDI material on CD, a rare label treasured by collectors.
The label JDI ran for almost 3 years between 1965 to 1967
during the Ska and Rock Steady period.
JDI productions had a unique hi-fashion style, different
from the likes of Studio One and Duke Reid
productions. The two JDI bands - The Diamonds and
Los Caballeros were house band residents at the Johnson’s
Drive Inn premises owned by the man himself Copley Freeman
Johnson with tip top singers like Lloyd Williams
and Roy Panton on vocal. Two of the tracks are very rare
Rock Steady People / Lloyd Williams and the instrumentals
Expo ’67 (Silhouette) / Look Away The
Diamonds. Having been sold for over £100 and £1,000 for original
45's on the CDI record label. When you listen to the
JDI releases, you can actually feel the vibes of the
JDI night club at that present time! The JDI
band members included a young Karl "Cannonball”
Bryan, Sammy Ismay, (brother of well know keyboardist
Leslie Butler) and Lloyd Delpratt on organ.
Booklet by Brian Keyo provides liner notes in both English &
Japanese. Issued on Rock A Shacka RSCD - 002 Japan.
